new happenings plus

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 27, 2008, 10:58 PM
so stuff has being going on offline lately. i got myself a new job, and so far it's been pretty awesome. i get to do actual design work on a sweet workstation with a set of 20" lcds, and dont have to worry about any apple bullshit crashing three times a day.

the office is super chill too, basically an all day comedy routine and rubber band war.

so yeah. good times.

*addtional information*

i just realized why i like the mochi ice cream so much, its basically gelato that you can eat with your hands. i am impressed by how they can capture not only the taste, but a bit of the "texture" of green tea in solid form. you cant chew tea obviously, but if you could, i think it would feel a certain way.

also, has anyone else been listening to the new metallica songs as they are posted up on their website? good stuff, i am looking forward to the new album, its both a return to form and a step into new ground at once. quite amazing.

i just watched the most terrible movie, called funny games, the newer remade version with naomi watts and tim roth.. i dont know why they got involved in it. so dont waste your time on it.

Since I'm lucky enough not to have any Apple problems, I have to wonder what type of Apple problems you were dealing with?

Good luck with your new job!

generally just random lockups that bring up the dreaded grey screen o' death and having to cold reboot, and having to force quit applications more often than not.

thanks :)

Down with apple! :ohnoes:
Although I've generally never experienced any problems with them... i still dont like using apple >.>

its just a little frustrating switching back and forth and messing up your hand's muscle memory for hotkeys an things. mac's are kinda cool in some ways, but in many they are just frustrating. dont even ask me about the file system on the newest version of osx... they totally broke the search funtion lol, and basically any application will crash if you go to a shared drive on a server by clicking one icon instead of another. lovely.

Oh. Most of the problems I've encountered on the Mac are the result of lack of RAM. Mac's are RAM hogs, a happy Mac is a maxed out Mac, the more RAM the better, especially if you are using 3D software and PhotoShop. I use a dual processor G5, it still has some room for expansion, but it runs great. At home I have a dual G4 running OS 9.2, it runs great too, but could use a little more RAM.

hrm. well. most of the time i was working on an older powerpc based g5 that had 4 gigs in it, and fairly recently got upgraded to a new imac that had whatever the max is on those, 4 or 8... things ran plenty fast enough, just not quite as stable as i would have liked.

The new metallica tracks kick ass! :bucktooth: although i'm not too fond of my apocalypse... the solo and the outro isn't exactly to my liking. :(
